Winterim
Winterim is the most distinctive part of academics at Living Word Lutheran. Unlike many schools in our area, we offer this intensive program to explore new subjects, develop practical skills, and provide learning beyond the traditional classroom. It also allows us to teach even more elective courses than during a typical semester, giving students more opportunities to discover and pursue their passions.

So, what is Winterim? Each January, before the start of second semester, Living Word Lutheran students participate in a three-week intensive Winterim course.

-
Students earn 0.5 credits toward graduation.
-
There are approximately 15-20 course options, including educational trips, career preparation with job shadows, and internships.
-
Students request their preferred courses, which are assigned based on seniority.
-
Class sizes are small, typically 10–15 students, allowing for hands-on and experiential learning both inside and outside the classroom.
-
Many Winterim courses overlap with semester courses, but offerings change annually to provide variety and unique learning experiences.
-
Winterim is designed to give students the opportunity to explore new subjects, develop practical skills, and engage in learning beyond the traditional classroom.
